Toyota Block Serial Numbers
I bought the 3.4L saturday. The craigslist ad stated that it was from a junkyard and that he never removed it from the shipping pallet. He wanted $900.00 obo.
I knew as soon as i looked it over that this guy was a BS'er and i told him that it was'nt a junkyard motor. No heat tabs or writing on the block or heads.
Engine Serial No: 0294407 Block Casting: 0 Frame No. (also called 'VIN No.' ): BJ40 - 0038478 PS. I have a personal motive for doing this in that I want to determine the build date for that spare engine I bought.ie. The one whose serial number I photographed above.

I'm sure that he did a engine swap then attached the junkyard ID tag on the old motor and he had the motor mounted to the pallet with ratchet straps. I got it for $200.00, not to bad if i can use the heads. The only #'s i could find was the ones tacoma04 mentioned near the oil filter, #1759391. I called my local toyo dealer but the parts woman was'nt much help. How can i verify the year?
