Mauser 22 Rifle Serial Numbers
M m410B (Clip fed sporter). A lovely.22 rifle built to high levels of craftsmanship. Probably more of these in SA than in the rest of the world put together. There was no such thing as a M s410B, but there was a Ms420B (heavy barrel clip fed target/sporter) and a Ms350B (heavy barrel clip fed target). The other 2 in the range, using the same action were the Es340B and the Es350B which were both single shot target rifles and are scarcer than rocking horse sh*t. The 'B' series were manufactured from 1934 to 1939 with a very few manufactured during WW2. The Mm410B had it's own serial number series starting at 200,000 whereas the other models had serial numbers all mixed up.

Dec 25, 2004 - Mauser made a number of.22 rifles of that type, but I can't tell from. The only number I've found is '459', after the serial number on the barrel.

Most of the records were destroyed at the end of the war so a more accurate manufacture date than 1934-1939 is intelligent guessing. Rifles with the same proof marks of yours are however recorded to have serial numbers over 220,000 whereafter the proof marks changed and manufacture continued so I'm guessing that yours is a very early one. Shoot it and enjoy it. Very accurate.
